The UNION FAMILY LADDER — every configuration IN FULL (specs + all recorded numbers)

you add it, so that all data are in place").** Every union-family configuration stands here
COMPLETE — full ruleset and every recorded number — so nothing requires chasing deltas across
ledger entries. Result numbers are transcribed from the ledger (the append-only source of
truth); on any discrepancy the ledger wins. Specs of SEALED members are duplicated here for
convenience only — the sealed prereg files are definitional.
Status flags: 🔒 SEALED (pre-registered, forward-tested 2026-10-03+) · 📋 RECORDED (full

⚠ Archive provenance (ledger 16AS): the numbers below describe the archive AS IT WAS
AT SEAL TIME. The 16AQ corporate-actions repair (14 gold-ETF unit subdivisions backfilled; the

(TR: K30 131.80→132.21 · A2 113.65→113.89; α/β unchanged). Re-verified values + the
drift-proof forward-gate anchors are ledger 16AS; the union forward code gates on the 16AS
closed-window set and prints the seal-time headlines beside, drift disclosed. Whether headline
rows are ever RESTATED (and whether gold ETFs stay in the universe) is an owner decision tied
ETF-class CA batch — 174 ETF/index-fund splits — re-adjusted the era-floor books again; the
forward gate re-anchored A1/A2/K30 and now allows them a small tolerance band, the ETF-free base
books staying tight as the tamper-check.)

One-line definition: the Union Ladder is the full-record compendium of every union-family configuration — sealed, recorded, and rejected alike — with each member's complete ruleset and every recorded result number standing in one place, so the whole family can be read side by side without chasing deltas across ledger entries.

6b. 🔒 THE R-IMPROVEMENT SIBLINGS — the HOLD / DEEP variants (2026-07-22; ledger 16BD/16BE/16BF)

Three sealed variants from the "lift CAGR / cut drawdown" research pass, each = an existing base +

one or two orthogonal, individually robustness-swept levers. Unlike §1–§6 (whose tables are

FLAT/seal-basis), these are measured on the identical Zerodha real-cost gauntlet (ledger 16BC),

so their NET numbers are comparable to each other. Forward-tested 2026-10-03+ beside the four

originals; family adjudication picks ≤1 across ALL sealed specs (these share levers/base with

K30/A2, disclosed in their preregs, so a joint pass ≠ separate discoveries).

The two levers:

  • HOLD (16BD) — retain a held name while it stays within the top 2× the holding count

(refill to size from the best non-held survivors). Cuts turnover + mildly improves selection;

drawdown ≈ unchanged. Robust across bands 40–90.

  • DEEP (16BE) — the TURN leg fires only from a deeper oversold: RSI-of-RS < 20 (vs the

shared machinery's < 30). Higher-conviction turns → stronger bounces AND fewer false turns, so it

RAISES return and CUTS drawdown. Robust across floors <25/<20. (Sector-relative RS only —

index-relative was tested and FAILED the positive-geometric selector bar, 16BE.)

reweight drift under the gauntlet, 16BC). ⚠ all IN-SAMPLE, and net-of-cost ≠ net-of-selection;

10. FUNDABILITY BOARD — the web twin (S-UNION-VARIANTS, 2026-08-27, D-PENDING)

Why this section exists. Until this session the variants above were readable only by someone

who already knew to open this compendium or the Tier-C block on /dash/model-portfolios. In the

strategies area — where a reader goes to ask "what strategies do you have?" — the library

carried ONE union row, so eight of the nine configurations, and both falsified ML rankers, were

effectively kept aside. the desk (2026-08-27): *"They should exist visibly as upcoming /

under-review / not-yet-fundable variants."*

They are now listed as declared UPCOMING entries in the Strategy library

(/dash/home/strategies/library), rendered by the union upcoming code. This section is

the doc-side twin of that board and its maintenance anchor: the module transcribes its numbers

from §§1–6b above, and an automated test fails if a row cites a section that is not

in this file.

The verdict, stated once

No union variant is fundable today, and the reason is identical for all of them: every

headline is in-sample, not one has a single CLOSED forward quarter, and capacity is UNVERIFIED at

every size. The 2026-10-03 forward verdict is the first moment any of them can produce evidence

rather than a lead — and the family's frozen rule graduates at most ONE among any that pass.

This is a MEASURED verdict, not a default posture: it would be reversed by forward evidence

recorded in the ledger, by nothing else.

Gross vs net — three columns, never blended

The board publishes three separately-labelled return columns because this estate's standing

failure mode is a gross headline read as a fundable return (the strategy ledger BLOCKING

FAILURE MODELS; PACER-25's 35.6% gross → −1.4% net is the house example):

The automatic recheck

the union forward checkpoint script, fired by patearn-union-forward.timer on the **4th of

Jan/Apr/Jul/Oct at 09:30 IST — first firing 2026-10-04**, the day AFTER the frozen verdict day,

so an open window can never be graded. It runs the frozen the union forward code, writes

data/union_forward_status.json (which the library board reads and prints), and DMs the verdict.

🔴 It grades; it never promotes. A §3 pass is INPUT to the family adjudication, which graduates

at most one sibling and is the desk decision. The status artefact carries a verdict and a null

graduated field by construction — there is no code path that moves a variant into the live

strategy flow by itself.

makes the install systemd script --check print them as a legitimate DRIFT: reminder until installed —

Upcoming — the Union family, under review

These are variants of one idea — a book that buys stocks either turning up out of an oversold patch or already showing confirmed strength. They are shown here because they exist and you should be able to see them, NOT because they are usable. None of them holds real money. The 2026-10-03 checkpoint starts the review; at least eight completed forward quarters are required before the frozen family adjudication, which graduates at most one.

9 under review · 2 rejected · 0 fundable. No union variant is fundable today, and the reason is the same for all of them: every headline is in-sample, none has a single closed forward quarter, and capacity is unverified at every size. The 2026-10-03 checkpoint is an initial review, not qualification. The frozen protocol requires at least eight completed forward quarters before adjudication and graduates at most ONE.

Read the three return columns as three different questions. Gross is what the rule earned before real trading friction — the number that flatters. Net is the same rule after brokerage, slippage and impact on a real broker's cost model. Figures are shown only where admitted to this board. Four other variants have earlier in-sample measurements whose current basis is unverified; those cells show that status. Other absent studies say not measured. Adjusted estimate discounts historical results for selection from many trials; it is neither an observed forward return nor a forecast. Four siblings have no forward figure computed yet and say owed. None of the three columns is net of TAX, which is yours and not modelled anywhere in this estate.

Automatic recheck scheduled: the frozen forward runner grades all seven sealed siblings mechanically from 2026-10-04 (quarterly thereafter), and reports the verdict here and by message. Nothing about these books changes by hand in the meantime.

Each variant in full

The Union — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. The book owns strong-but-not-extreme stocks, taken either as they turn up out of an oversold relative-strength dip or once their relative strength is confirmed and persistent. The two legs fire on different names at different times (11% overlap), so the union is invested far more of the time than either leg alone. Idle capital works a Nifty Next 50 sleeve instead of sitting dead, and each name is closed on a −20% trailing stop.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Sealed pre-registered lead. No forward evidence yet; the verdict day has not arrived.

Real-cost record. An in-sample study dated 18 July 2026 measured this variant after modelled costs. That result has not been validated against the inputs and rule version used here, so no current net figure is shown.

Data required (all already ingested nightly from primary exchange sources — admitting these introduces no new feed and no vendor dependency):

  • NSE bhavcopy daily OHLCV, series EQ + BE + BZ
  • corporate-action adjustments and the split-ratio quarantine
  • the 16 NSE sector indices, for point-in-time sector assignment by trailing-500d excess-correlation
  • Nifty 500 closes (regime + beta/alpha) and Nifty Next 50 closes (the idle sleeve)
  • prior-month traded value per symbol, for the liquidity floor
  • parsed ₹-per-share ex-date dividend credits (the total-return rows; a LOWER bound)

Missing before it can go live:

  • current-basis validation of the earlier real-cost study
  • the 2026-10-03 forward verdict
  • a capacity study — UNVERIFIED at every size

Caveats:

  • In-sample: selected after seeing 2005–2026 across ~30 configurations.
  • Every sizing fix tested (throttle, inverse-vol) was REJECTED — see the walls.

Union-β14 — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. The union's weakest window (2012–17) was a beta problem, not a selection problem. Capping per-name beta AT SELECTION removes the highest-beta ~29% of qualifier-quarters and flips that window's alpha positive, at the cost of being invested less of the time.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Sealed pre-registered lead, awaiting the forward window.

  • a capacity study

Caveats:

  • Kill-checks recorded: the cap plateau is all-positive over 1.3–1.6 and the beta window is robust at 125d/500d, so the lever is not a single lucky knob.

Union-C40RA — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. Once beta is capped, ranking what remains by return-per-unit-of-volatility (126d return ÷ 63d volatility) and concentrating from 60 names to 40 raises return without giving back the drawdown the cap bought.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Sealed pre-registered lead, awaiting the forward window.

  • the 16 NSE sector indices, for point-in-time sector assignment by trailing-500d excess-correlation
  • Nifty 500 closes (regime + beta/alpha) and Nifty Next 50 closes (the idle sleeve)
  • prior-month traded value per symbol, for the liquidity floor
  • parsed ₹-per-share ex-date dividend credits (the total-return rows; a LOWER bound)

Missing before it can go live:

  • current-basis validation of the earlier real-cost study
  • the 2026-10-03 forward verdict
  • a capacity study

Caveats:

  • Survives the honesty battery: 19.7% at 2% slip, 20.0% on next-day execution, 19.5% on the worst-honest combination — the headline is not an execution artefact.
  • Its eye-catching 30.1% is a 2017+ SLICE, not the full-period number.

A1-COMPOSITE — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. A fixed ₹5cr liquidity floor is a different filter in 2006 than in 2026. Making the floor a quantile of that month's own liquidity cross-section roughly doubles the early-era qualifier pool, and parking bear-state cash at the risk-free rate stops idle capital from being a drag.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Recorded but unregistered, and dominated by A2 on every axis that matters. Visible so the family record is complete, not because it is a candidate.

  • Nifty 1D Rate Index (the risk-free bear-state leg; flat 6.5%/yr before 2016-06-23)
  • parsed ₹-per-share ex-date dividend credits (the total-return rows; a LOWER bound)

Missing before it can go live:

  • registration before a forward test — it was never pre-registered
  • a real-cost (gauntlet) recut
  • a capacity study

Caveats:

  • DOMINATED by A2: equal CAGR, 3–6pp worse drawdown, half the tail liquidity, and a 2012–17 realised beta of 1.49 vs A2's 1.29.
  • Its 2013 floor dips to ₹0.37cr — the cost model is not credible at that tail.
  • Kept visible for the record; it is not a graduation candidate.

A2-COMPOSITE — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. A1's idea without A1's untradeable tail: the era-relative floor never falls below ₹1cr, which keeps the early-era breadth while refusing the names the cost model cannot honestly price. Same CAGR as A1 with a materially shallower worst drop.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Recorded, unregistered, and capacity-limited by construction. Not sealed, so it cannot even be graded by the forward test until the owner registers it.

  • Nifty 1D Rate Index (the risk-free bear-state leg; flat 6.5%/yr before 2016-06-23)
  • parsed ₹-per-share ex-date dividend credits (the total-return rows; a LOWER bound)

Missing before it can go live:

  • current-basis validation of the earlier real-cost study
  • registration before a forward test (it is registration-ready and needs only a sign-off)
  • the 2026-10-03 forward verdict
  • a capacity study — median pick liquidity is ₹7.7–11.3cr vs C40RA's ₹27cr

Caveats:

  • The character CHANGES here: a small/mid-cap tilt, personal-scale capital only.
  • Its 2017+ slice is the same machinery that produces C40RA's 30.1% headline — not an independent discovery.

COMPOSITE-30 — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. The confirmed lead of the family. Narrowing from 40 names to 30 and letting a working position keep its drifted weight — instead of trimming it back to equal-weight every quarter — compounds the book's own winners rather than recycling into the next candidate.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — The family's designated lead — and still a sealed in-sample lead. Being the best of a set of leads is not evidence.

  • Nifty 1D Rate Index (the risk-free bear-state leg; flat 6.5%/yr before 2016-06-23)
  • parsed ₹-per-share ex-date dividend credits (the total-return rows; a LOWER bound)

Missing before it can go live:

  • the 2026-10-03 forward verdict
  • a capacity study
  • persisted rosters (the engine computes and discards them for its retention cousins)

Caveats:

  • Its three single-axis components each passed alone; the composite was formed by declared precedence, not by picking the best combination after the fact.
  • Worst drop under real cost is −38% — the DEEPEST of the family, and the column a reader should look at before the 26.4%.

K30-HOLD — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. Most of a quarterly book's turnover is a name crossing the rank boundary and crossing straight back. Retaining through that band cuts turnover — and therefore real cost — while mildly improving selection; drawdown is roughly unchanged.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Sealed 2026-07-22; graded for the first time at the 2026-10-03 verdict.

  • Nifty 1D Rate Index (the risk-free bear-state leg; flat 6.5%/yr before 2016-06-23)
  • parsed ₹-per-share ex-date dividend credits (the total-return rows; a LOWER bound)

Missing before it can go live:

  • the 2026-10-03 forward verdict
  • its deflation-adjusted forward expectation — not yet computed
  • a capacity study
  • persisted rosters — the engine discards them

Caveats:

  • Shares its base and lever with COMPOSITE-30 and its DEEP cousin, so a joint pass is ONE discovery, not three.
  • The retention lever is robust across bands 40–90 — not a single tuned band.

A2-HOLD — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. The same turnover-cutting lever applied to the equal-weight A2 base rather than the let-winners-run base. Gives up some return for a shallower worst drop, for a reader who would rather own the smoother line.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Sealed 2026-07-22; graded for the first time at the 2026-10-03 verdict.

  • Nifty 1D Rate Index (the risk-free bear-state leg; flat 6.5%/yr before 2016-06-23)
  • parsed ₹-per-share ex-date dividend credits (the total-return rows; a LOWER bound)

Missing before it can go live:

  • the 2026-10-03 forward verdict
  • its deflation-adjusted forward expectation
  • a capacity study
  • persisted rosters — the engine discards them

Caveats:

  • Its net number is mildly OPTIMISTIC: equal-weight under-charges reweight drift under the gauntlet's cost model.
  • Inherits A2's small/mid-cap tilt and therefore A2's capacity ceiling.

K30-DEEP-HOLD — thesis, data, what is missing

Thesis. A shallower oversold reading catches more turns, and more false ones. Demanding a deeper washout raises the conviction of each turn: stronger bounces AND fewer failures, so it lifts return and cuts drawdown at the same time. Best net return and lowest worst-drop in the family.

Fundability. ⏳ Not fundable — under review — Best in-sample net AND lowest drawdown — which is exactly the profile overfitting produces, and why it is the row to trust LAST, not first.

  • Nifty 1D Rate Index (the risk-free bear-state leg; flat 6.5%/yr before 2016-06-23)

Missing before it can go live:

  • the 2026-10-03 forward verdict
  • its deflation-adjusted forward expectation
  • a capacity study
  • persisted rosters — the engine discards them

Caveats:

  • 🔴 HIGHEST overfit risk of the family — two in-sample levers stacked on one base. Disclosed in its own pre-registration.
  • Sector-relative RS only: the index-relative version was tested and FAILED.
  • The DEEP floor is robust across <25/<20, which bounds but does not remove the stacking risk.
